The following are brief descriptions of ordinances that generate the most complaints. Questions about the code should be directed to the Code Enforcement Office.

Depositing trash, garbage, and refuse on private or public property. 30-72-(11)

The depositing and leaving on private or public property of trash, refuse, scrap building materials, paper, cardboard containers, brick, cement rubbish, tree residue, cans, containers or any other rubbish or trash that is a menace to public health and safety in the city or which unreasonably annoys others.

(11a) Broken or discarded furniture, household equipment and furnishings stores on the property and visible from a public street.

(11b) Trash, garbage and refuse cans, bins, boxes or other such containers stored in front or side yards visible from a public street except normal solid waste pickups. Garbage containers used in normal solid waste pickup shall be removed from the curb as soon as possible, but in any event not later than noon on the day following collection.

(11c) Vehicle parts or other articles of personal property which are abandoned or left in a state of partial construction or repair in front yards, side yards, driveways, sidewalks or walkways and are visible from a public street

(11d) Attractive nuisances dangerous to children including abandoned, broken or neglected equipment and appliances, machinery, refrigerators, freezers and hazardous pools, ponds and excavations including abandoned wells.

(13) Unsafe vehicles, machinery, etc. Unsheltered storage of old, unused, stripping, junked and other automobiles not in good and safe operating condition and any other vehicles, machinery, implements, and/or equipment and personal property of any kind that is no longer safely usable for the purpose for which is was manufactured for a period of 30 days or more, except in licensed junk yards. The absence of a license plate for the current year and/or the absence of a current motor vehicle registration shall be prima facie evidence that such vehicle is junked.

Overgrown Vegetation (30-106) .

Any weeds such as jimsonweed, burdock, ragweed, thistle, cocklebur, or other weeds, of a like kind found growing in any lot or tract of land in the city and any weeds, grasses or plants, other than, trees, bushes, flowers or other ornamental plants, growing to a height exceeding 8 inches anywhere in the city are hereby declared to be a nuisance, subject to abatement in this division.
