Canton Police Explorer Post 0221 receives National Award

Corporal Stacy Bailey with the Canton Police Department is the Community Relations Officer and is working hard to launch new programs in the community. The Explorer Program is part of the Learning For Life program through the Boy Scouts of America. Exploring exists to provide the structure and resources needed for the youth to learn about career opportunities, to make ethical choices, and to achieve their full potential as individuals.

The Explorer Program incorporates career opportunities, life skills, service learning, character education and leadership experience. The Program is off to a great start with 45 attendees. They meet every Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. It is open to boys and girls 14 -20 years of age and at least in the 9th grade.

The Canton Police Explorer Post 0221 received the National Exploring Excellence Award. This award was presented by Learning for Life and Boy Scouts of America. To achieve this award the Explorer Post must achieve 6 out of 10 objectives set forth by Learning for Life. A few of those categories are as follows:

  • Training
  • Leadership
  • Officers
  • Super Activity
  • Service Projects
  • Participation

The Explorer program is a career education program for young men and women age 14 to 20 years old. The Canton Police Explorer Post was implemented by the Agency August 2006. Explorer Meetings are held every Thursday at the Canton Police Department located at 221 East Marietta Street@7 P.M. If interested contact Cpl. Bailey at 770-720-4883.
