The City of Canton would like introduce you to the Canton Fire Department. The City of Canton is classified as suburban due to its inclusion within the Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) of Atlanta Georgia. Canton is the county seat of Cherokee County serving a population of approximately 15,000. Our department responded to 2626 fires, haz-mat, EMS and other type calls in 2005. We provide automatic aid and mutual aid to surrounding cities and counties and we are a member of Georgia Mutual Aid Group (GMAG). Along with fire suppression actives our department provides plan review and inspections, fire safety education to schools, businesses and any group that requests our services. We are very proactive with industry in the city for prevention training, education and the use of fire extinguishers. We have purchased a Fire/Weather Safety House to include tornado safety education to our citizens.
