The Planning and Zoning Department of the City of Canton is responsible for preparing and maintaining the City's Comprehensive Plan, which serves as a "blueprint" and policy guide for the overall growth and development of the community.
In an effort to preserve the goals and objectives of the Comprehensive Plan, the Department of Planning and Zoning works daily with the Citizens of Canton, the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Board of Appeals and the City Council.
The Department receives and processes the following:
- Annexation
- Rezoning
- Master Plans
- Conditional Use Permits
- Temporary Use Permits
- Variances
The following are received and processed for review, by the Department of Planning and Zoning:
- Preliminary Plats
- Final Plats
- Concept Plans
- Landscape Plans
- Oversite Committee/ Architectural Reviews
- Tree Protection Plans
- Sign Permit Applications
- Temporary Sign Permit Applications
- Administrative Variances
