In an effort to address the most commonly asked questions and facilitate trouble free service, we offer the following guidelines for your review.

 

Household Waste Guideline

Please have your Waste Management cart and recycle bin accessible for pick up by 6:30 a.m. on your designated collection day, all trash must be bagged and must not be placed loose in any receptacle.

NO TRASH will be picked up that is not in an approved cart. If you need additional carts call 770-704-1502 to apply for carts and receive fee information.

Note: Waste Management cannot accept cardboard, tires, batteries, paint, oils, construction debris, chemicals of any kind, Freon, rocks or dirt.

 

Recycling Guideline

Waste Management collects newspaper, magazines, tin cans, aluminum cans, plastic soda bottles and milk jugs. All containers must be rinsed out. In case of rain, please hold newspapers until the following week, weather permitting. Corrugated cardboard is accepted the collection site is located at 275 Dr. John T. Pettit Street.


Note: Cardboard, aluminum foil, plastic bags, aerosol cans, Styrofoam, clothes hangers and yard waste are not acceptable. Although many items are recyclable, not all are marketable. (Thank you for your understanding).

 

Cherokee County Recycling Center will accept glass, paper, aluminum cans, metals, motor oil, batteries, phone books and cardboard. If you have any question please call 770-517-7650 or visit the web site http://www.cherokeega.com/ccweb/departments/recycling/.

 

Collection Center

City residents may also carry other waste to the collection center located at 275 Dr. John T. Petit Street , Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and it is closed from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for lunch. (Appliances with freon not accepted).

 

Designated Holiday Schedule

We observe the following holidays and our office will be closed: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. During each holiday week your regular scheduled service day for pick up is delayed by one day to ensure everyone is serviced. Please call 770-704-1502 if you have any questions.

 

Yard Waste

City residents may contact the Street Department at 770-720-7674 to obtain information regarding disposal of yard waste.
