Soil & Erosion
The Erosion, & Sediment Control Division is responsible for the enforcement of state law and city ordinance for Soil, Erosion, & Sediment control to preserve the natural resources in the city of Canton. Through inspections, training and education the Development Department assist residents, developers and builders with the following:

Best Management Practices (BMP's) Required:
Reference to Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Field Manual. Vegetative and Soil Best Management Practices (BMP's) for Land Disturbing Activities.

Building Lot Eroding:
When sediment or silt water is exiting a site with no preventive measures installed.

Erosion Complaint:

If soil is exiting a residential or commercial building lot.

Mud in Streets:

When erosion runoff is accumulating in a public road or right of way.

Silt Fence Down/ Out of Maintenance:

Silt fence is down, torn, full of silt, or not properly trenched in and is allowing erosion to exit site.

Construction Exit out of Maintenance:

Construction Exit is not keeping mud/dirt from exiting site and is being tracked into the street.

Temporary Sediment Basin/Pond:

Out of maintenance
